Horrorwood
They filmed the scariest movies of all time here. Now the horror’s off-script.
A project by Jared Battaglia
Santa Mira, California has been called "Terror Town, USA" in every travel magazine. It's Hollywood’s favorite shooting locale for blood-soaked horror films. Production crews have been creating scary movie magic in this charming coastal enclave since the Silent Era. The place is so Instagrammable. Main Street is filled with horror-branded pizza parlors, arcades, and shops that pay homage to Dreadscape Pictures' most iconic monster movies, particularly the oeuvre of fright master Levi Danforth. But when outside forces push the town's mystique even further, echoes of on-screen horror start bleeding into real life. Soon, it's up to a group of young locals to get to the bottom of what's really going on.
